THIRA ROBOTICS and the U.S. system integrator DISHER collaboration will expand automation use cases to environments previously considered unfit for automation.
SEOUL, South Korea – October 17, 2023 – South Korean company THIRA ROBOTICS, known for its work in Automated Material Handling Robots (AMRs) and part of the THiRA-UTECH group, has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with U.S. engineering firm DISHER. This partnership is focused on introducing THIRA’s second-generation AMRs to environments that have traditionally been difficult for automated technology.
The relationship will be formally initiated during an event from October 18-19, supported by the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), and will include an opportunity for DISHER to engage in an additional MOU with the Korea Association of Robot Industry, aiming for extended cooperation between South Korea and the United States in this sector.
THIRA’s new line of AMRs is designed for navigation through areas with various challenges, including uneven floors, indoor/outdoor transitions, and spaces crowded with obstacles, as well as handling elevators and slopes. “This partnership intends to extend the reach of our AMR solutions into U.S. markets, specifically in factories, warehouses, and hospitals,” stated Peter Kim, CEO of THIRA ROBOTICS.
DISHER’s Area Lead for Manufacturing Technical Services and Automation, Shawn O’Farrel, remarked, “This collaboration aligns with DISHER’s goal of continuous improvement and skill expansion in the realm of advanced automation. Working with THIRA will assist us in integrating new automation technologies into U.S. industries.”
The venture represents a step in the ongoing collaboration between U.S. and South Korean companies in the field of manufacturing and automation. The formal announcement of this partnership is scheduled to occur at the KINTEX Exhibition Center in South Korea.
