Today’s Forklift News leads with another real-world hydrogen ReachStacker deployment, followed by a major 5,000-truck fleet agreement, new truck-mounted forklifts for North America, unusually high-capacity reach stackers and new lithium-ion battery safety guidance.

HYDROGEN | Hyster Hydrogen ReachStacker Goes to Work in Rotterdam
Hyster has delivered a hydrogen fuel-cell ReachStacker to Rotterdam Shortsea Terminals in the Netherlands as part of a five-year project examining hydrogen technology for heavy-duty port operations.
The Hyster RSJ46-33XDH/62 combines a 60 kW Nuvera fuel cell with lithium-ion battery storage and will primarily handle 45-foot containers at the terminal. The deployment follows another Hyster hydrogen ReachStacker recently placed into operation at the Port of Tilbury in the UK.
The two projects give Hyster additional real-world operating experience with hydrogen in demanding container-handling applications where long duty cycles and high power requirements make the transition away from diesel particularly challenging.
NEW EQUIPMENT | MOFFETT Brings 6,500-lb Truck-Mounted Forklifts to North America
Hiab has introduced two higher-capacity MOFFETT M8 NX2 truck-mounted forklifts for the United States and Canada.
The M8 65.3P NX2 and M8 65.4P NX2 increase maximum lifting capacity from 5,500 to 6,500 lb without increasing the truck’s unladen transport weight. The lineup includes both 2-way and 4-way configurations.
MOFFETT’s Lift Assist system also enables operators to reach loads across the width of a truck or trailer from one side, reducing the need to reposition the delivery vehicle during unloading.
HEAVY LIFT | Taylor Reach Stackers Target Loads Up to 120,000 lb
Taylor Machine Works has expanded its reach-stacker portfolio with three high-capacity models aimed at increasingly heavy container and breakbulk loads.
The new ZRS-1272, XRS-1180 and XRS-1190 include battery-electric and diesel-powered options, with special application ratings extending to 120,000 lb. Taylor points to battery manufacturing, energy storage and data-center construction among the sectors generating unusually heavy containerized loads.
The XRS-1190 uses hydraulic stabilizers positioned between the front drive tires to help maintain lifting capacity at longer reach, including applications where operators need to reach across one rail line to containers positioned on another.
SAFETY | New Guidance Addresses Lithium-Ion Battery Storage in Warehouses
The UK Warehousing Association and UK Material Handling Association have released complementary guidance addressing lithium-ion batteries in warehouse environments.
UKWA’s guidance focuses on smaller lithium-ion batteries entering warehouses in products such as tools, laptops, e-bikes and consumer returns, while UKMHA has produced complementary guidance covering larger traction batteries used to power material handling equipment.
The associations say warehouse operators have been looking for clearer practical guidance as lithium-ion batteries become increasingly common both as stored products and as an energy source for warehouse equipment.
