ENEROC USA and Charging Technologies Inc. (CTI) have completed an integration allowing ENEROC lithium forklift batteries to communicate directly with compatible CTI industrial battery chargers.

The development could simplify lithium conversions for fleets already operating CTI charging equipment. According to the companies, fleets can pair new ENEROC lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries with existing CTI chargers equipped for lithium charging and CAN bus communication, potentially eliminating the need to replace the charger when converting battery technology.
When connected, the ENEROC battery management system communicates with the charger over CAN bus, providing requested charging current and voltage along with information such as state of charge and cell temperature. The charger can then adjust charging automatically as battery conditions change.
The system also allows the charger to reduce or stop charging if the battery management system detects a fault or temperature limit.
“Fleets that already run CTI chargers can move to ENEROC lithium batteries and keep the chargers they have,” said Mark D’Amato, VP of Sales at ENEROC USA.
The integration covers CTI lithium-capable chargers equipped with its CAN bus communication option. CTI’s Xtreme HF charger range covers applications from 24 to 80 volts.
ENEROC USA supplies LFP battery systems for forklifts and other industrial equipment in North America, while CTI manufactures industrial battery chargers from its facility in Bridgeton, Missouri.
